John McQuaig is a New York City based composer and pianist. He has written an eclectic array of dynamic music for a variety of media including short films, documentaries, video games, podcasts, and animation. He is a versatile composer with the keen ability to hone in on the specific musical vocabulary that will best enhance any given story.

A classically trained pianist, John is equally comfortable in the realm of Western Classical traditions as he is with electronic music, rock, jazz, and other genres. His signature sound is often characterized by pulsing optimism, vibrant melodic focus, or spacious, evocative textures. He received his Master of Music degree ('22) in Screen Scoring from NYU's Steinhardt School. Additionally, he holds a Master's degree (NYU Steinhardt '19) and Bachelor's degree (Ithaca College '16) in Piano Performance.

John has been teaching music lessons in New York City since 2017 to students of all ages and skill levels. From 2017-2019, John was an Adjunct Instructor of piano at New York University and taught over 120 students in both private lessons and group classes. He received consistent positive evaluations from students.

He currently teaches private lessons independently and at The Browning School in their after school music program.
